The BOPE men in black pointed their hoses at the cells. The prisoners were still asleep, out cold with exhaustion. Captain Barros gave the command. The valves were opened. Jets of cold water gushed into the cells at maximum force, crashing into the bars and the steel corners, provoking a roar that muffled the shouts of the Red Command leaders. One minute was enough to soak body and soul. The prisoners would then have thirty minutes of repose while the policemen grabbed a quick lunch.
